San Diego

San Diego was so much fun! I love that city... I wish we would have had more time to explore the city a little bit more, but maybe next time. We went to Seaworld, The Wild Animal Park, visited Mark's grandma, and ate at Seaport Village.

Riding the Safari Tram
A Carter-sized giraffe
A teenager lion

White rhino. There are only 7 of these left in the world. They are past their breeding age so as soon as the 7 die they will be extinct.

Our clan. This pic kind of shows the safari in the background.

A Lion and his cub.

The wildest animal in the Park.

Mark and Mel just shootin' the breaze.

This pic makes me look skinny.

The giant hot air balloon - or as Carter calls it "ball."

Carter loved petting the deer. He seems to like animals more than I did as a kid.

Mark's grandma Jenkins.

Carter playing with his great grandma's cane.

No trip to Cali would be complete without eating at In-N-Out!

SEAWORLD!!!

Carter really did enjoy the Shamu show...

All tuckered out at the shark exibit.

His shirt had a pic of a shark that said Always Hungry. Very fitting.

The Dolphins!

The Beluga whales were my favorite. This one was going to the bottom of the tank and acting like he was scratching his back. It was really neat to watch.

Carter and I sitting in an ice cave. The Arctic area is my favorite area of the park.

The COOL way to drink your soda.

Mark, Carter, Robin, and Mel checking out the Sea Lion. When the Sea Lion yelled it reminded us of when Carter is yelling.

One "funny" experience we had while in San Diego was our hotel situation. We were suppose to stay at this place called the Kings Inn. Well, when we got there (at about 11:30pm) they told us somebody had overbooked their rooms so they were going to send us to another hotel a couple of miles down the road. So, we drove down to the Padres Inn or something like that and Mark goes in to the lobby to get our room. About 20 minutes later he still was not out. So I went in and there was about 3 or 4 people ahead of Mark in line. The lady behind the counter was this little old oriental gal that was taking her sweet time. She kept having issues with the computer and double booked a room, she answered every phone call that came in, and had absolutely no sense of urgency. Then when it was our turn (an hour later) she said she only had 1 King bed. This would not work because my mom was with us. So, she called and asked our first hotel (The Kings Inn) if they would be willing to pay for the suite. They said yes. She told Mark that we were really lucky that we got to stay in the suite. Well, you should have seen the suite! (I wish I would have taken pictures!) I felt like we were staying in the Bates Motel from Pyscho, my mom said she felt like we were staying in the Munsters house, and Mark said he felt like he was staying in a grandma's basement. It was very outdated and weird. There were eternity mirrors in front of the toilet, no outlets in the bathroom and just very old! It sucked at the time (about 1:00am) but looking back it was kind of a funny experience.
