The Ultimate Gift

Ok, So I have one more movie review. Mark and I use Netflix and I love it! They have almost every movie you can think of. There is no need to search for an older movie at several different video stores. Plus, you don't have to worry about getting it back by the deadline. You just return it whenever you are done. And now that my pitch about Netflix is done I will tell you about this movie...

While browsing movies on the Netflix website one day I saw the description for The Ultimate Gift. It looked like "my kind of movie." (You know, the kind that would be on Lifetime or something similar). So I chose it and a few days later it arrived. I put it in not expecting much but it turned out to be the cutest show! It is one of those "makes you appreciate life movies." The other cool thing about it for all you readers out there is that it is based off of a book and the book has a sequel. I have obviously not read the book yet but I think I am going to so that I can read the sequel. The author's name is Jim Stovall. I hope that if you end up seeing the movie you will love it as much as I did.

Twilight

Wahoo! I am so glad that I can finally fit in and post about Twilight... Mark and I watched it tonight and I actually REALLY liked it. I haven't read any of the books because I am not much of a reader and I also didn't know what to think about the vampire storyline. I wouldn't say that I am obsessed with it but I am excited for another movie to come out (are they making another one?) I may also consider reading the books. Maybe.

The things that I liked about it were: the fact that it was something new - not your average storyline. It took a little bit of time, but Edward grew on me and by the end I thought he was a hottie. I also thought that the actor that played him did a good job. I think the actress that played Bella did a pretty good job too. That was another thing I liked... it was all new actors and actresses. Mark thought it was pretty good too. So if he thinks it is good - it must be good. Right!? :)

Such a busy little Towel Boy...

So here is my little boy that LOVES to play with the kitchen towels. He pulls them all out of the drawer then he sits and throws them around. It keeps him entertained for quite some time which gives me some time to do what I want to do!

The other thing he loves to do is pull out the pizza pans and play with the food on the lazy susan. It is a whole routine... play with the fridge magnets, next is pulling out the pizza pans, then play with the lazy susan, after that comes the cupboard to the right of the stove, and last is the pulling out of the kitchen towels.

This picture doesn't have anything to do with Carter but I wanted to post it. On Friday night I went to dinner with a bunch of my best friends. We have been friends since high school. As you can see Andy was the only guy that showed up but he sure got applauded while we were getting this picture taken! I am so glad that I had (and still have) such good friends!

St. Patricks Day!

We had a great St. Patricks Day this year! Mark was actually home for the night so I decided to make a green dinner. I have never tried corned beef nor do I have any idea how to prepare it so I just made Roast Beef. We also had green mashed potatoes (made by Clay), green salad, green grapes, Lime Kool-Aid, and of course green Jell-O. It was a really good dinner and a lot of fun to make. After dinner we played a little game on Mark's laptop where you ask an electronic 8-ball questions. (Don't diss it til you've tried it!) It was surprisingly accurate!

Carter and Lyndee... Carter kept wanting to binkie kiss (take Lyndee's binkie and give her his binkie).

Grandma Robin and Grandpa Mel's Visit

Grandma Robin and Grandpa Mel visited us for a week in March. We are so glad that they came all the way from California to visit us! I didn't get too many pictures, but we really enjoyed their company!

Grandpa Mel bought Carter these big suckers! What a lucky little boy...

Everyone came over for a retirement party for Grandpa Mel... including Carter's partner in crime - Carson. (6 months apart)
Emma and Aunt Julie slept over one night. Carter loved the sleeping bag...
Where's Emma?
There she is!!!

Toddlerhood

So am thoroughly enjoying this toddlerhood phase that Carter is going through... Mostly. Let me explain the "mostly" part... This kid is as cute as a button but man does he have a temper! I know that tantrums are normal at this point but Carter throws exceptional tantrums. When he doesn't get his way he screams as loud as he possibly can - over and over. I have heard to ignore them and then he will learn that he can't throw a tantrum for attention. However, what the heck are you suppose to do in public?! i.e. CHURCH!!!??? All of my friends with kids say that people are used to it, but that is not the vibe I get when I am rushing down the isle with my kicking and screaming kid towards the exit. Ideas? Sympathy?

On a more fun note... I took Carter to get his one year old pictures done the other day. This was by far the hardest time I have ever had while trying to get his pictures done (see note above). He did not want to sit still for a second! Luckily we had an AWESOME photographer (Megan J. @ Newgate Kiddie Kandids) so we got some really cute pictures of him. Tantrums and all, I think he is the cutest kid ever! :)

FYI: My actual prints are cropped in or centered a little bit more. If you can see fingers or extra props in the prints they just crop them out when you order.

This one of him in the hat I had printed as a close up with a sepia overlay. It turned out SO cute I love it!

Our little guy is one!

Carter's birthday was on Sunday, February 22nd. I can't believe it! I am sure that most parents go through the same feelings I am where you wonder where the time went. It seems like it was just the other day that Carter was born. Although it is strange that I have a toddler, I am not sad that he isn't a baby anymore. I have been really fortunate to be able to spend tons of time with my little guy so I feel like I haven't missed anything. He cracks me up every day and gives me tons of hugs and wet slobbery kisses. He has brought so much joy into mine and Mark's lives. We can't imagine life without him! We LOVE you CARTER!!!

Here are some of my favorite pics over the past year...

Carter had such a great birthday. I know he won't remember it, but as his mom I couldn't resist throwing him a birthday party! All of his family and a few of his little friends came over for cake & ice cream, and then we all went swimming at the Clearfield Aquatic Center. Carter got completely spoiled with more toys and gifts and he LOVED swimming. He is our water baby! Thank you to everyone that came and shared in our little guy's big day!
Also, Carter's stats at his one year appointment were: 23 lbs 12 oz (75%) and 31 in (90%). His ears are still infected from his RSV but hopefully they will be all better soon.

Carter's 1st Birthday!

Celine Dion

After all of Carter's birthday extravaganza I was able to go to the Celine Dion concert! My cousin's wife Kathy had an extra ticket and invited me. My mom also happened to be going with her three sisters so it was a "girls only" family event! Celine is so awesome! Not only is she one of the best singers ever but she is a great entertainer! She seems really down to earth too, which I liked. Thanks so much for inviting me Kathy!
