Our cute little pumpkin

We went to the pumpkin patch at Carlos' fruit stand this last Friday. I love going there to get our pumpkins because that is where we always went when I was a kid. It brings back good memories. They have it decorated really cute (for pictures of course) and they have a great selection of pumpkins. I got some of the cutest pictures of Carter.

Quirky

First of all, just an FYI. If anyone tries to contact me via e-mail, Facebook, or on my blog just know that it may take me a little bit to get back to you. Our computer is dead and we are waiting until after our vacation to get it fixed. Mark has a laptop but it is mainly for school and he takes it with him so I don't have access to it very often. Anyway, since I have a little bit of time I will respond to the Quirky tag from Kelley.

6 Quirks about myself *I hope these count as quirks*

1) The dishwasher has to be loaded just the right way (Otherwise, things don't get clean!)

2) I hate it when celebrities or people with a lot of money have crooked teeth. If I can afford braces twice, so can they.

3) This probably sounds really grouchy but I hate it when people go around whisteling like it's nobody's business. Mainly in a store. I just think it is rude and I HAVE to listen to them.

4) I can only part my hair on the right side. It feels too weird to part it on the other side.

5) I guess this can count as a quirk and most people know this about me, but I have a HORRIBLY RIDICULOUS BAD phobia of snakes (any kind of snake).

6) I love the smell of wet dirt, wet cement, and the inside of our filing cabinet at work. This increased even more when I was pregnant.

This one was a fun one. I tag the 8th ward girls: Amanda J., Heather, Keli A., Bethany, Steph, Melissa, and Natasha

Save the date!

I am having a portrait party on Sat. September 27th for anyone who is interested. My friend Kelley Howe is an amazing photographer! Unfortunately she is moving to Logan soon. So we all need to take advantage of having her close.

You may be wondering, "What is a portrait party?" Well, to answer your question you can check out Kelley's
website for more details. But basically we set up 40 minute sessions for you to bring your little kiddos (or family) in for a photo session. Kelley has a studio in her home which makes it really nice and convenient. There is no session fee (normally $75), and no obligation to buy.

If you want to come please let me know so that we can set up an appointment for you. The party starts at 10:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm. Appointment times are filling up fast so let me know asap if you want to come.

P.S. Make sure to check out
khowephotography.com to see Kelley's work, get ideas, and get any of your questions answered for the portrait party.

Thanks!
Alison

Also, here are some of my favorite pics from Kelley's website...

6 months going on 16 years? Isn't this starting a little early?

Carter got to hang out all day with his "friend" Gracie. I put quotes around the word friend because it looks like they are more than friends to me... Carter is such a little flirt! He definetily gets that from his dad! We are going to have to keep our eye on these two... :)

No more Colby :(

We dropped Colby off at the MTC on Sept. 3rd. He will be leaving the MTC in three weeks to go on his mission to Baltimore, MD. I am really glad that I was able to go with to the MTC. I have never been there (or even been to Provo for that matter). Our family, including Colby seemed to handle it pretty well. Only a few tears were shed. Colby has already sent one letter and he said that he was enjoying it so far, he liked his companion and roomates, and he thought the food was good but not as good as dad's. Leave it to Colby to talk about food!

What about baby?

My friend Natasha posted this on her blog and I thought it was so fun to read hers that I am doing it too.

BABIES FULL NAME? Carter Mark Jenkins

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THAT SPECIFIC NAME? We just liked the name Carter. We also considered Tyler and Rory but when he was born he looked like a Carter to me. His middle name is Mark after his daddy.

WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME? Yes, we had been married for about 2 1/2 years.

WHAT WERE YOUR REACTIONS? I listed it on another post, but I was SO EXTREMELY excited to be having a baby. It has been something I have wanted my whole life. Mark was excited too, but he got all of those nervous dad jitters about being able to provide, etc.

DID YOU WANT TO FIND OUT THE SEX? Yes! I couldn't wait to find out what we were having so that I could prepare his or her room and shop for outfits, etc. I was able to find out at 15 weeks!

DUE DATE? Originally it was February 29, 2008 (Leap Year Day), then my doctor officially made it February 28th.

DID YOU DELIVER EARLY OR LATE? 6 days early

DID YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS? Yes, I think I threw up about 6 or 7 times total, but I usually just felt nauseated and tired.

WHAT DID YOU CRAVE? For most of my pregnancy NOTHING sounded good to eat, but my stomach would hurt from being SO hungry. So if ANYTHING sounded good I would go and get it. I remember wanting sausage pizza from Pizza Hut, Subway & Blimpie sandwiches with lots of pickles and vinegar on them, mashed potatoes, and cold cereal.

WHO IRRITATED YOU THE MOST? This is sad, but probably Mark. I didn't feel like he was understanding me and what it was like to be pregnant.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CHILD'S SEX? 100% BOY

DID YOU HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS WITH YOUR PREGNANCY? No, I did have a cyst on my ovary at my first appointment but the doctor didn't seem that concerned about it.

HOW MANY HOURS WERE YOU IN LABOR? 2.5 hrs. My water broke at exactly 6:00 am and Carter was delivered at 8:28 am.

WHO DROVE YOU TO THE HOSPITAL? Mark, it was so cute because he acted just like the dads in the movies that drives crazy to the hospital. As soon as my water broke he jumped out of bed and turned on his speedy-hyper mode.

WHO WAS IN THE DELIVERY ROOM? Mark, My mother-in-law (Robin), My dad, & Jean Decker. My mom was on a trip with my brother in Cali so she wasn't there. So our family friend Jean Decker recorded it for us. We didn't know originally if Robin or my dad would be in the room, but Robin helped out since my mom wasn't there and I was glad to have my dad there.

WAS IT NATURAL OR C-SECTION? Natural

DID YOU HAVE AN EPIDURAL? Yes, I was luck to get it considering how fast it went. (When I arrived at the hospital I was an 8)

HOW MUCH DID YOUR BABY WEIGH? 8 lbs. 13 oz. 21.5 in

DID YOUR BABY HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS? No, he was as healthy as an ox. He didn't have any jaundice and he latched right on to nurse.

WHAT HOSPITAL DID YOU DELIVER AT? McKay Dee Hospital. We had a really good experience there

HOW OLD IS YOUR FIRSTBORN NOW? 6 months 2 weeks & 2 days

Then...
